争先恐后

zhēng xiān kǒng hòu

striving to be first and fearing to be last (idiom); outdoing one another

我先去遛狗，然后回来。

wǒ xiān qù liù gǒu， rán hòu huí lai。

I'll go walk the dog first and then come back.
